| "We have learned to listen..." Pierre Roy, Municipal Bulletin, February 2007 | In the
past year, the Roy Administration has:
|
|
| "When it gets busy, there are 300 boats lined up in this channel. It's like Peel and Ste. Catherine. The fumes from the boats fill the air. You can hardly breathe." - Duncan Howard, The Gazette, July 22, 2006 | The councillor responsible for the environment made this "observation" while on his own pontoon boat, with his old 2-stroke motor... | |
| [Translation] "...the majority of users and residents of Lake St. Joseph and Ste. Marie, represented by their respective associations, are satisfied with the changes adopted by the municipal council." - Municipal Bulletin, June 2006 |
The 4 largest associations of the 5 on the consultative committee supported propositions concerning access to the lakes that were not adopted. The Code of Ethics supported by the committee is not the one presented to municipal council. The members of the municipal council were not informed of the recommendations of the committee before the adoption of the by-law, which was confirmed by 3 council members at the meeting of May 19.
| "People renting homes for more than 30 days can launch their boats through the municipal launch areas... There is no change in this practice that was originally approved in 2003." - Municipal Bulletin, June 2006 | In the summer of 2003, vacationers of 7 days or more had access to the municipal launch areas. The minimum of 30 days was put into effect for the summer of 2004. | |
| [Translation] "Mr. Pellemans never attended the numerous public consultations on the subject of nautical security. He does not know what he is talking about." - Pierre Roy, Journal des Pays-d'en-Haut, May 24, 2006 |
There was only one public consultation, on March 5, 2006, at which Nicolas Pellemans made the presentation on behalf of the Water Sports Association.
| [Translation] "Work committees comprised of citizens to inform elected representatives." - Vision Saint-Adolphe, election pamphlet, autumn 2005 |
The recommendations of the only work committee created, the nautical consultative committee, were hidden from elected representatives before the decisions were taken by municipal council.
| [Translation] "Decisions taken in complete transparency after consultation with citizens." - Vision Saint-Adolphe, election pamphlet, autumn 2005 |
The Roy administration never consulted citizens on most of the requests for boating restrictions recently submitted to Transport Canada. |
